Shasta current snow conditions and TH access

by clmbr » Thu May 02, 2013 5:12 pm

Are all THs on the North/East Side accessible by car as of today? Which are and which are NOT?

Any info about the snow conditions, especially stability and density-anywhere, would be a bonus.

I would really appreciate any feedback. Advanced thanks!

It's all listed out on www.shastaavalanche.org

I've always found it to be fairly accurate. They seem to check the roads regularly.

Any recent attempts with more accurate info?

Probably not if there is an extra 1.5 mile approach.

People are lazy!

Have a good weekend! 8)

Does anyone have a current picture showing the summit plateau area on Shasta? Above Misery Hill. I am curious as to how much snow is up there.

Thanks!

I’m also interested in the snow coverage in Hidden Valley and surrounding slopes and the routes from there, especially West Face and Whitney Glacier (through Cascade Gulch).

Thanks a lot in advance. :D

I was up there this weekend up Avalanche Gulch.

We skied. There was zero snow from Bunny Flat, a little sliver of snow began about a half mile past the cabin - enough to skin on.

Made it up to Helen, sun-cupped.

I slept in and then booted up to red banks and skied from there.

My buddies ditched the skis and summited. They said there wasn't snow above red banks to speak of; there was a group skiing off the east side.
