Well, the death toll has just risen to nineteen.

Breaking news ... too sad.

This is devastating. I followed it late last night. I know that area well. I am deeply saddened and my heart goes out to their families and fellow firefighters.

Larry,

Thank you for bringing this sad news to our attention. These were 19 young people with so much ahead of them in life. I mourn for the family and friends they've left behind.

It's thanks to wildland fire crews like this that I still have a house to call home following the Black Forest Fire that destroyed 509 homes this past month. I could have lost everything I had, but these crews clearly fought the good fight to keep most of my neighborhood standing.

Just amazing, in a bad way. I really followed the Storm King incident 20 years ago and can't imagine what these guys went through the other day. Best wishes to the families.
