Obvious Study - Mountaineers Have Emotional Issues

by Ze » Tue Jul 02, 2013 10:38 pm

LOL

Mountain climbing is long and arduous, and doesn’t necessarily cause that adrenalin-infused thrill. In fact, previous research has reported that mountaineers may engage in extreme risks to help rein in their emotions. Studies have found that mountaineers tend to fall short in the relationship department, have difficulty describing their feelings and have less of a need for intimacy than others. They also tend to feel a lack of control in their everyday lives.

I think I speak for the rest of us when I say I'm feeling like I could be very hurt and angry at this implication and I would tell you if I could just find a way to vent. If I had a friend, I would definitely tell him/her what you just posted. What is going on with this world.....everything is going haywire!!!

JESUS!! Thank God for the help Wyoming!
And all this time, I though I was going haywire and reflecting my inner haywireness onto society and foolishly thinking
that society itself, was haywire! And I, was normal. Whew!
Thank God I'm not normal or standard!

This is a better quote from the article:

“Basically people who engage in the more arduous high-risk activities such as mountaineering do so because they have a higher expectation of what life should offer, or what life should be,” said Woodman.

Almost everyone comes to a point in their life when they realize life isn't awesome. All our young lives, through adolescence, we've been told life is supposed to be awesome, and we can do anything we want. We can be race car drivers, astronauts, presidents, and movie stars. Then we finish school and instead of being offered jobs as race car drivers, astronauts, presidents, or movie starts, we find out we have to get menial and/or mundane jobs just to exist, and success is simply being able to put some of the paycheck in the savings account after the bills are paid.

Alpinists are those that refuse to accept that life isn't awesome.
where am i going... and why am i in this handbasket?

I would say that this applies more to women climbers in my generation than to men.

Climbing has become significantly more popular in past decades, and now more women are into climbing. So maybe Type A or Type B personality disorders are not as prevalent in the current generation of women climbers.

Of course, this is a generality and there are clear exceptions. Not all climber chicks have personality disorders.

I like climbing mountains for the solitude and the time it gives you to think and not worry about the world around you.

I also like climbing BIG mountains because it is kinda epic. We all love a little danger and adventure right?

Yet another condescending assumption courtesy of the patriarchal tyranny misogynist brigade. Count the personality disorders in this pic, bitterfag. Then go gay marry Buzzard, and divorce him for different flavors of bitterness.
