I put it as a slash behind Unicorn for the day, noting that I went over it after Unicorn on our way out but counting them both as one peak.

In 1985 I hiked cross country from Reymann Lake to Budd Lake in one long day, crossing over the ridge between the Cockscomb and the 'Al Tuskey' peak you mention. All this time I had assumed that the 'Al Tuskey' peak was actually Unicorn Peak, and that I had missed a chance to summit Unicorn! I never realized my mistake until now.

googling for Althuski came up with this worthpoint URL. worthpoint aggregates ebay auctions. I didn't sign up to see if there's any more information.

The question is whether the annotation of Unicorn Peak and Mt. Althuski is old, which would say that the name is old. I assume that the seller got the annotation from the negative or envelope, rather than ID'ing the peaks himself, since he didn't know the name of the lake.

Yes. But slapping names on mounds of rock, and then caring what the names were, much less making lists and peakbagging them, was geeky from the start. The mountains, even a tedious lump of talus, will be around long after anyone who knew or cared about the names has disappeared.
