Famed Everest Blogger Leaves for K2 Attempt

Famed? Really?

Alan is a nice guy, buy I certainly wouldn't call him famous. Neither would he most likely... :)

What are you talking about?

Alan Arnette. He's the guy who played Hawkeye in M.A.S.H.. He's way way famous.

Or is Alan Arkin he's related to? :wink:

Serioulsy though, good luck to Alan and his climb. K2 is obviously serious stuff. Nothing but the best to him.

Alan is pretty well known among the 8000m club. He is, in my view, the new Elizabeth Hawley in modern times...

...and Alan also has been foolish enough to climb mountains, an onerous and unnecessary task from which Hawley has always sensibly refrained :)

I remember Alans posts going back to the early days of SP and his numerous attemps at Everest. K2 is the real deal and you can't take that away from this famed Everest blogger.
