There are some very beautiful mountains which have feminine sounding names. Annapurna is in fact a female given name in India, it means "Goddess of the Harvest" and can be shortened to the Western sounding "Anna". Ama Dablam and Nanda Devi are beautiful peaks and have a feminine sounding names (Willi Unsoeld, the climber/philosopher named his daughter Nanda Devi). Denali has been used as a woman's name.

Or you could call her "Nameless" after one of the most spectacular rock climbs in the world - Nameless Tower.

Negative on the Shasta, Whitney, Denali, Devi, etc. Too many dogs (and hippy chicks) named these already..why continue to cliche humanity?.. Alright.. Annapurna's ok..

Actually Nanda Devi is what got me thinking on this...trying to find an exotic mountain name...BTW, have you read the book about Willi and his daughter and their time on the mountain? I have not but I heard it's a great read...

I guess it depends on how far you want to stray from names that sound like familiar English names (e.g. Anna...). It's usually fairly easy to find the Amerind names for mountains; but they may not seem pleasing to an ear attuned to "pretty" names, and are often mangled in transliteration. I used to live near Tsicoma; now I live near Nibaganti.

There are many euphonious names that may be associated with biblical entries, and those are probably politically incorrect. I climbed two Moriahs, 2600 miles apart.

John Roskelley's book on his Nanda Devi expedition where Nanda Devi Unsoeld died? I haven''t read the whole thing but I picked it up at a store and skimmed parts of it - I should probably buy it and read it since it's an interesting story.

What about just picking one of your favorite mountains or routes and naming her after that, assuming it has a reasonable name? Of course when I was a teenager in Northern Virginia my favorite mountain was Old Rag, so my suggestion wouldn't work well in that case. But Rainier (e.g.) isn't a bad name, and some of the routes on it would make nice names, like Liberty or Emmons or even Ingraham. Just don't call her Disappointment.

Shkhara! Like the Country highpoint of Georgia and a stunning mountain!

Sunflower is a nice girl's name... and is the state highpoint of Kansas.

You could name her after a style of climbing you enjoy, though names like "Crack", "Handjam", "Fingerlock", "Smear" or "Off width" might get a certain amount of teasing in grade school. "Free" on the other hand is not a bad name for a girl, though a bit reminiscent of the 60s.

Katahdin (Kate).

Name her Elie after Elie De Beaumont.
