They only hiked part of the PCT in winter. They hiked a significant portion of it in Autumn.

I read the story, start/stop time.... I did think it was odd they would call it a winter trip when part of it was "autumn". So the first true "winter" trip is up for grabs...

Skis would have been better than snowshoes.

Sandals would have better than snowshoes....
