Hi Guys,
We are going to be in your beautiful country in Sept, driving west from Denver to Utah. Previously based in Durango we did multi day trips into Vestal Lake and did the Trinities and Arrow Peak. Another trip into Chicago Basin and then on into Canyonlands. We are looking for suggestions for the same sort of thing in the northern half of Colerado and/or Eastern Utah. A back country base with two, three or four days Class 3 or 4 scrambling to keep us happy. Any suggestions? I live in Inverness Scotland and if I could help any of you guys coming this way I would be pleased to do so.

Eagle and Ripsaw Ridge (the "letter peaks") in the Gores are right along the way, though kind of a let-down compared to Vestal Basin. Blanca and the Crestones are a bit out of the way, but the latter in particular have some great scrambling, e.g. north ridge of Kit Carson, Peak-to-Needle traverse, Pico Aislado.

Have you looked at basing near Moab? Plenty around there to keep you busy for years.

Dinosaur National Monument is on your way. A lifetime of remote scrambling awaits.
