Anyone else climbed Kintla and Stimson 2014?

by siyeh » Sun Sep 07, 2014 6:06 pm

Anybody else climbed Kintla and Stimson this year? My son needed these two to finish the GNP 10'ers. We did not see anybody around just bears!
Kintla was August 19th.

We did Stimson August 27th.

Stimson from our bushwhack up Pinchot Creek:

We had a great 9 days climbing and backpacking. 3 griz visited our camp one night down in the Ag Glacier basin. Nobody got hurt.

How was the Pinchot Creek bushwhack? Is it bad enough to warrant hiking in all the way to Buffalo Woman and traversing Pinchot to get to the saddle? Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Well, I've done it twice and there won't be a third! It is not easy but I like the Pinchot Creek route as it is the shortest way to get to the saddle. There are hundreds of downed trees along Pinchot that must be dealt with. Just bull your way through.
