advice request; gothics in adirondacks with a dog?

by zachprimeau » Thu Jul 23, 2015 4:36 am

im planning on going upper wolf jaw -> armstrong -> gothics next weekend with my dog. ive read about both a) the cables on gothics and b) the ladder(s)? between lower wolf jaw and armstrong. has anybody done this route recently with a dog? im more worried about the ladder than the cable section. for reference, hes got dix/haystack/algonquin under his belt already. he's 80 lbs, but I also plan to bring rope to help with some of the more difficult sections. thoughts/tips/advice/warnings??

Trails are pretty rocky, make sure his feet are ready for it

I'm not liking the sound of the rope idea. Unless you know what you're doing (dynamic rope, proper anchor for the rope, proper harness for the dog), you're likely to get hurt and so is your dog.
