Problem with pdf file submitted as image

by rgb2 » Tue Sep 07, 2010 12:36 am

I want to post an image that is a pdf file (728KB). Is this possible?
When I tried to do this, it appeared to upload successfully like other images. But there is a broken link image instead of the file image in the list of My Images on my userpage.
On the page I uploaded it to there is just the file name "Cypress Provincial Park map".
Clicking on this link leads to a popup "PDF download by Nitro PDF software".
Clicking on Open in this popup leads to the file opening.
But is this because it's my local computer, where I downloaded it to?

I had originally posted this link on the page last year. I tried opening it today but it would not open. So I edited the page, reloading the pdf file. Please see if you can open this PDF file like I did. If not, how can I post the file?

And if it works properly for you, how do I replace the broken link image in My Images, userpage, for this file, with a normal image?

Example of broken link image for this file 552079:

People can still click on the link and download the file, but that is not a format understood by SP as an image.

You can convert the pdf image to a jpg; easiest ways are to copy the image to a paste buffer (IFF it is embedded as a jpg in the pdf-- not likely), then open a picture-editing program and paste; or open the pdf file, and do a screen capture of the image.

For example, here's the latter approach for the 1st map:

Personally, I'd rather be able to download to full PDF.

MoapaPk

Thank you for your helpful reply and your example.
I agree that the full pdf is preferable. But I don't know what happened last year when I was sure I added it as an image. Maybe I made an error, or else somehow it got deleted or the link was broken.
