San Jacinto via Deer Springs Trail-water ?

by sdmarkus » Fri Jul 30, 2010 12:05 am

Anyone know if water is available in or around Strawberry Junction and/or Little Round Valley? The rangers indicated water was only available in Round Valley, but I'm a bit skeptical...

There is ample water at two places on the Deer Springs trail / PCT on the way to Little Round Valley. These are the blue lines you see on the topo that cross the trail. The best water is more or less at N33 48.053 W116 41.980 and the other at N33 48.380 W116 41.477 which is closer to LRV. Recent postings at www.mtsanjacinto.info indicate there is also water in LRV proper.

Thanks Norris...

For anyone else, there is ample water from Strawberry Junction on, some of which may not last the summer but a least two solid springs that should run the season. There is also ample water in LRV as we suspected, but better safe than sorry....
