When do you plan to go? Be sure to tick the summit log afterwards and leave a conditions report. I'm interested in visiting sometime in late March or April.

Z.

I climbed Semeru in Nov. 2006. I asked my hotel manager at Cemoro Lawang to arrange a guide, tents, food, porter ... etc for US $200.

Not sure about Ranupani though...

How many hours have you wallked from C.Lawang to Ranupani?
Where did you set the camps on the way up to peak?

Is Ranupani the small village below Semeru where the park HQ issues the climbing permit?

Some guy at the hotel I stayed took me there by motorcycle so I did not walk that part. The ride was around 1 hour.

My camp was set at around 2700m a little bit below the tree line. It's about an hour or so above a lake whose name I don't remember.
