SMC Micro CRx Pulley -- wiggles?

by kruss » Tue Jan 21, 2014 3:09 am

Hey y'all,

Just picked up one of these SMC Micro CRx pulleys at MEC:

http://www.mec.ca/product/5034-557/smc- ... ik-pulley/

As soon as I got home I realized that the side plates were not particularly well-mounted. That is, they loosely wriggle back and forth. Is this supposed to be the case? I don't have a ton of experience with pulleys but the one I used in the past didn't have this much wiggle room I don't think.

Cheers!

I have the mini rather than the micro. Do they wiggle as if they are not pulled tightly enough in toward the axle? Mine has some play like that, but not too much.

Yes I think it's the exact same thing. It just has more play than I expected. I'll be taking it to the store to compare to some other similar ones. Thanks for the reply.

Well if they do not wiggle they cannot rotate allowing you to put a rope in.

As soon as you put a load on it the plates won't wiggle. The only thing you need to watch for is that the pulley does not rub on the sides when loaded. Had a cheap plastic one do that and threw it out.
