Snowline Karakorum and Hindukush

by Ski Mountaineer » Tue Nov 18, 2008 12:30 am

Hello!

Does anybody happen to know the usual elevation of the snowlines in the Karakorum (around Gilgit) and the Hindukush of Pakistan (around Chitral) in winter, spring and summer?

Thanks,
SM

Sorry if this information is not accurate but somewhere I read the snowline near karakoram is around 4000-4500meters during the summer

Glaciers you may encounter at 3000mts, but the real snow-line starts at about 4500-5000mts (in summer, after sunny weather) near Gilgit (Purian Sar, Batura Muztagh).
