I would really like to have an explanation how he can consider Batura II the highest unclimbed peak in the world.
I have mailed both him and Wolfgang H. about it, but (of course) no answers.

I see his lie is still being perpetuated by The North Face at: http://www.thenorthface.com/na/athletes ... es-SM.html

I like where he says I don’t want to enter a competition or classification
Given his actions re: first Shisha winter ascent, I wonder would JC Lafaille agree with this, were he still alive.

Pity he can't take his own advice. ie. I would also like to remind many of my colleagues that being a strong climber/alpinist is a great skill, but alone not enough to be a man

I don't care how good a climber he is, or how much better a climber he is than me, or anyone - he's a liar and a hypocrite.

Still no answers from any them.
Do you consider the drop in between the two Baturas enough to make Batura II an independent mountain?
If 107 meters count, we would have a whole bunch of new 8000 meter peaks.

We should analyse the 8000ers then... Have anybody climbed Makalu SE (8.010 m) :?: This list is obsolete as Lhotse Middle has been climbed in spring 2001

Diego,

I have always wondered about Makalu SE being on lists. The SE ridge of Makalu has been climbed at least three times, so just where is this unclimbed point ? Surely if it is on the ridge it has been climbed over ?

I don't have a really good map of Makalu, so I can't look.
