Iñaki died this morning after having fought for his life during several days at Camp4 at Anapurna.. Ohh, how bad, I am really very, very sorry...

We have all lost one of the best climbers in Spain, and above all, a great man.

I was at Annapurna BC 2 months ago when they were starting to set up base camp. of the climbers there, he was the guy who was happiest to talk to interested trekkers about their plans, a genuinely nice guy who i wished the best for. I'm so sad to see this news today. RIP.

My deepest condolences to family and friends. He will be missed.

So Don Bowie helped in the rescue effort, though was publicly dissed previously by the guy that died for not being safe enough?

Yesterday was a very sad day for the mountaineers of Navarra but today we've walked to the mountains remembering Iñaki, as he wanted, as we want.
I remember Iñaki on the little peak San Cristobal (895m), in Pamplona my hometown, running day after day... with a good spirit, training with his dog... and many times with rain, with snow... always with a smile to all the people. I know it, he smile today on Annapurna but he was happy.

Rest in peace.

All 14 mountaineers who formed part of the diferente rescue-teams have returned safe to BC inspite of bad weather and low visibility. They are all a great proof of solidarity and friendship within the mountaineering community, and also that Iñaki was a person who many, many people really wanted to get out of there alive. He will be truly missed by a lot of people.

Iñaki's body will remain on the Southface of the Annapurna on request of his family, as this is perfectly in line with Iñaki's spirit and relation to the mountains, and also in order not to risk any more lives.
