My husband, wrote this to me yesterday: (thought it was funny)

NOW I WISHED I PRACTICED INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW. HERE'S THE BEST LINE:

In The South Butt's online disclaimer, the company distances itself from The North Face, concluding: "If you are unable to discern the difference between a face and a butt, we encourage you to buy North Face products."

This is hilarious! I didn't even know the South Butt guy existed until I read about the law suit!

It does seem appropriate that the mediation ordered is set for April 1st!

We need to start an e-mail campaign. Everyone should e-mail TNF and ask them if they know the difference between a face and a butt. Maybe the e-mail should conclude with something like "Lighten up guys," or in the case of my e-mail "Lighten up assholes."

I thought it would be interesting to look into another parody company, as I've seen a few offered in the comments of a few news stories regarding this company (The East Arm, The East Elbow). The first thing that came to mind? The West Rib. However, a quick Google search reveals this:

http://www.foreintrade.com/traders/113068-zhangjiagang-west-rib-clothing-co-ltd

There's already a West Rib Clothing Company! And they've been around for 10+ years! Where's The North Face been on this heinous violation of brand infringement?!?!? Oh wait, there's not a teenager in the U.S. who they can easily intimidate with expensive legal council and our local U.S. court system (The West Rib is in China).

Admittedly, you can't actually purchase The West Rib clothing with a nice The West Rib logo to my knowledge. Bummer, I say.

And The West Rib makes only clothing for women.

Case settled...I guess

No pun intended, but I think the "end" is here:

http://www.google.com/search?q=south+bu ... 1I7HPIA_en

I'm guessing the suit went south? or in the "rear"? Sure cracked me up...
