Hope the rescuers handed the parents the bill (with a smile, while complimenting them on how brave their daughter is). "Better luck next time, folks!"

CG only collects when it's a false distress call. Private rescuers are another matter--the maritime law of salvage applies and so the fishing boat that fished Abby out of the ocean may well recover nicely for its trouble if her boat was salvaged. I can't remember whether it was.
