Though I bet there are a lot of Americans right now who'd like to see our mighty armed forces deployed against Slovenia or Mali.

I don't think so. For some reason we sent our military to Afganistan when the US immediately invaded Iraq after 9/11. I believe we were intentionally misinformed and sent on a snipe hunt! Why else would George W. have sent the US military to a different country?

Interesting thought.

I read somewhere this weekend that while Iraq and Afghanistan has molded our military into an anti-insurgency mindset, this isn't necessarily the direction that warfare is headed towards, the inference being that we would be caught unprepared if a more "conventional" war broke out
