Jack is an awesome person, had a great ride of a life, loved and lived most of it climbing his ass off. What more could one ask for as way to depart and move on to the next phase of life.... physically dying doing what one loves the most. I pray daily that I go as he did.

I pray and hope that the ice is long, solid and styrofoamy where you have moved on to Jack.

BTW, Guys like Jack do not rest where they move on to.... nope. Not one minute I tell ya.

Over and Out.

Jack was a great climber and a really nice guy. The two don't always go together.

I only met Jack briefly, in early June 2000. I'd seen a tanned guy in a bright yellow one-piece suit up near 14K camp on Denali. He looked pretty cool, like the kind of guy who could be a bit of an asshole :-) So I was a bit surprised to find him in the bunkhouse back at TAT in Talkeetna. We got talking and decided to go for a beer at the West Rib. I knew who he was, but to him I was just some skinny, hairy guy who'd plodded up the normal route.

We ended up having more than a few amber ales and, on his recommendation, the salmon sandwich, at the Rib that night, talking climbing and people we knew. He had a lot of great stories. We shared a ride back to Anchorage the next day and kept in touch, but I never saw him again. RIP BldrJack.
