I've never heard of moulon's before. And after researching these, my GOD! I don't ever want to see one!

I marked the heck out of that thing with wands cossed in an X fashion all the way around. If someone were to fall in and no one saw their fall, their death would always be a mystery. Maybe their body would pop out in Pebble Creek some time later. Probably be rather preserved as the temps would be close to freezing or below freezing year round. OK, I've been watching too much Bones...

Hmmmm....I'm going to be on Rainier in August. Any chance you remember where that moulin is? Sounds like a super shitty way to die!!

It was on the Muir Snowfield perhaps about 9k give or take 500 ft, skiier's right (i.e. on the right as one is descending) of the 'normal' trail, but that was a decade ago and I suspect they don't appear in the exact same place year after year, but I'm not sure.

Bree's book is a strange and frightening read that she was a climbing ranger. Her first time on the mountain SHE had to be rescued. Her book is fun to read but full of things not to do. Of course I read this while hunkered down on the turtle for 24 hrs! Fun read, but....

:o Wow, weird. I've never seen one (nor do I recall ever having heard of one), but I've had dreams of encountering just such a feature! I'll be up there again this August, and maybe even in June also. Now that I know there really ARE such things, I'm going to be watching each step like a kid walking through the forest in the dark!
