More bad news. Another young person died in the Cascades. This guy was 19.

Is recalling climbing fatalities much like remembering the weather from previous seasons, or has this season really been harsh so far in terms of lives lost?

Its a super late spring. Meaning its super deep slush right now with ice on top in the morning and under layers of icyness. On top of that all the cornices for the most part are still present as well. This kid was 19. Might have just been young and dumb and got to close to the edge of a cornice that was about to collapse as they do in the spring time.

My bro turned back from doing North Ridge of Stuart last week. Doing 3rd/4th class slush is NOT safe. You cannot self arrest in slush.

Be safe out there. Until the snowpack consolidates with this next week of nice sunshine its going to still be dangerous.
