NZ Alpine climbing -- Feb

I'm looking for partners for the S Alps in Feb. I have a lot
of experience from the Alps/Andes/Himalaya-Karakoram,
and would be interested in non-standard routes on peaks
like Cook, Tasman and Aspiring. However, given the usual
weather situation I'd settle for anything with a view. On that
note, can anyone advise whether February is still a goer
with regard to disintegrating glaciers ? I have some flexibility to be available in January as well/instead.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi Bruce,

I think you sent me an email about NZ climbing (dbak3056@bigpond.net.au). Feb is still good for mountaineering, but you are right some areas can get fairly cut up with glaciers opening up...all depends on the peak Elie de Beaumont (spelling?) for eg gets pretty cut up on the Anna glacier.....

I'm looking at doing la perrouse over there and/or Malte Brun and a few others weather permitting. I'm meeting a guy over there, Steve. We haven;t got too many plans set in stone, kind of depends on what the weather does, we have a few ideas though. I haven't discounted Mt cook either (via one of the "easier" grade 3 routes), but I want to see how I go over there on some other peaks first, warm up on them...

Get here as soon as you can, or save the $$$ for some chpper rides.... Hooker Glacier virtually impassable already.
