How are the snow conditions in the Western Alps looking? Will there be lots of snow for skiing/ snowboarding?

In the Jungfrau area: it snowed 2 day ago, down to about 1300m +/-. we got about 10cm at 1400m, mostly melted by now. I went up to about 2000m yesterday, snow was about ankle/shin deep at this elevation, nice soft powder. but the day was warm and sunny, so the snow is stuggling to hold on.

This morning I was standing outside at 1400m in shorts and a t-shirt for about 20 mins without getting cold. clouds are coming over the peaks from the south, and there is a strong but fairly warm wind.

The conditions are very bad in the French alps... (I'am in Grenoble) It snowed a couple of centimeters a few days ago but now there is a hot south wind and it's melting very fast... Don't expect good skiing conditions before january :( MeteoFrance said it has been the hottest autumn for 150 years...

Good way of getting an idea of snow levels is to use one of the many webcams around in the Alps.

This one http://www.zugspitze.de/livecams/cam4.htm will only be visible in the USA when daylight returns in about 11 hours from now!

It is on the Wank mountain at about 1750m, (5700 feet) and looks towards the South West over the Alpspitze, (2628m), and Germany's highest the Zugspitze at 2962m, (just under 10,000 feet). It has been a sorry sight looking at it so far this winter!

But snow is forecast this weekend as Thomas mentioned on a different thread.
