Looks like another fatal bear attack. This time, on a trail in the Carpathian Mountains.

Damn. What's up with all the bear attacks, other than so many people encroaching into their territories?

Remember that media-created shark attack summer a few years ago? I'm betting that this is bear attack Summer.

These bear attacks are becoming very hard to bear. Its a good thing Bram Stoker never wrote anything about bears. Here is another report from San Diego

It happened also before. Only that Americans were not involved so much ;)

If memory serves, Transylvania/Romania is the highest bear-fatality region of the world because of high human density and high bear density. I'd be willing to bet that we kill a lot more of them than they kill of us, however.

Americans kill 40,000-50,000 of one another every year with cars, kill who-knows-how many bears, cougars, wolves, alligators, etc. We lose 1-2 people a year to wildlife other than alligators (alligators get more of us than any other species -- good for them). I'm sure that trees kill more people (mostly skiers) than cougars and bears put together.

Just tryin' to keep it all in perspective.

Have attacked me on more than one occasion. They don't retreat.
