Hi,

I'm planning a hike in Triglav national park in Slovenia and have 2 questions:

-I would like to visit the Vintgar gorge and then continue to the central area. Are there any nice hiking trails connecting Vintgar with the central area of the park?

-I can only find a map of hiking trails covering the central area of the park. Does anybody have a map of trails that also shows the Vintgar gorge?

Thanks!!!
Mats

Hi, Mats.

you don't need a map for Vitgar. It's much in the valley, close to Bled tourist resort. But if you wish to proceed into the central part, it depends in which time of the year you go there and in which part of the Central Julians you want to go. From Vintgar you simply walk through Radovna valley (by the road, some 2 hours).

Cheers, Vid

Yes, I dont need the map for the gorge itself, but I need it for walking from the gorge towards the central area (Triglav peak etc).

Actually I found a map from Freytag & Berndt that covers all of Triglav, including vintgar and Bled. So I will order it. I will check out the Radovna valley you recommended, thanks.

Im spending 5 days in Triglav and want to see as much of it as possible. I will be there the 2nd week of september.

It would be nice to see both the highlights of the area, and the less visited parts.
What parts of the national park are less visited?
And where do I have the biggest chance to see animals (chamois etc)?

Thanks for the info!

Animals in natural surrouding can be seen at Zadnjiski ozebnik

Peaceful mountain, unmarked path, great view, easy to climb, some II. WW monuments. For place with animals you need some advices. You need some orintatioin experience.
Have a nice path, climbs in Slovenia.
