I suppose the obvious visitors choice to Wales would be Snowdon and/or its subsidary peaks, but I know most people will have done these numerous times. Tryfan springs to mind also as I've heard and seen lots about it.

At the end of the day I'm going to be in your backyard so I'm open to any reccomendations you may have! , or whatever anyone else is keen to do.

Good choice! Both options are good. As for routes, my recommendations would either be the Snowdon Horseshoe, which takes you over Crib Goch to Snowdon’s summit and back to the car park via Y Lliwedd, or the Bochlwyd Horseshoe, which takes you over Tryfan and Glyder Fach. The Snowdon Horseshoe is more popular and is arguably more spectacular, while the Bochlwyd Horseshoe takes you over some great peaks, but is less exposed, however, the scrambling (at least in my opinion) is more varied and of a better quality. If you only have time to do one, I’d go with Snowdon, it is Wales’ highest mountain after all. I’ve covered all this ground before so I really don’t mind what you want to do, I like it all.

I've had a look over your two suggestions and I like the sound of the Bochlwyd Horseshoe route the best. More diversity in the scrambling, a little less exposure, possibly quieter and ease of parking at the start all sound like plus points to me.

What's the average sort of time span for that route?

Difficult to say how long it'll take, depends on the weather conditions and fitness of the party. To do it comfortably with plenty of breaks I'd say maybe five or six hours fo the average person. To guarantee good parking I would say one would need to start at around 9 o'clock.

So provisionally, were looking at the Bochlwyd Horseshoe, on the 18th July and meeting around 9ish that morning? Will we put up a new thread for these details as a suggested SP meet in the UK? or do you want to iron out any more details??

I was in Glencoe this weekend. It pissed down the entire time, you know that bloody depressing look it can have at times, well that's what it was like. I had to get pished in the Kingshouse (repeatedly) to make myself feel better

Geologically speaking, no. It's 15 miles south of the HBF. Whether it could be added to the Cairnwells subpage is I guess up for vote, I say no.

Added some ten more today, from July 2008 in the Cairngorms. SP'ing from work, because internet is still down, so expect a slow trickle the next few days. I'd have a serious problem already if my boss sees how much time I've spent on SP today...
