I have a group of Boy Scouts that I am taking to Kandersteg International Scout Camp. I had planned to take the older boys (age 16+) and their dads to Wildstrubel on a guided overnight trip provided by the Scout Centre. Unfortunately, the Scout Centre snow and ice programs don't start until July 12 which is when we leave.

I'm looking for recommendations for a licensed, English speaking guide that can help with this trip.

I'm also going to need help acquiring (renting) glacier gear for 9 of the 10 scouts and dads. I plan to bring my own gear.

Your questions do not seem to attract anyone with professional knowledge. So here are my thoughts.

I suggest you start from Leukerbad and walk up the famous Gemmi way which is very beautiful, exciting and demanding. As I recall it there is 900 meters height rise up to the Gemmi pass. The cable car is an alternative but would spoil the satisfaction of getting up there by yourself. From the pass there is a couple of hours hike to the Lämmeren hut. After a good night's sleep in the hut you will be ready for the Wildstrubel. Typically it is a glacier route without any major difficulties. When I did this back in 1995 I remember there was a mother with her two children aged about 10 to 14 in the group. The guide was the English speaking hut warden, who lived in the hut with his family during the summer months. I have a video film showing the tour which I can make available if there is an interest.

It looks like I'll need to do some research n the route and lead this myself. Provided the route is not crevassed it sounds like a straightforward glacier walk.

Thank you for the video. I managed to get in touch with a guide for my group through some networking. Looks like it should be a good climb.
