True, I always wondered why it was decided to cut the alps in 2 halves.
One messy half and one organised half ? :)
As for the Rockies, Ands, Himalayas I think this is partly due to the fact if we stick to the SP rules (for an area, it is not necessary to have climbed all peaks but to have a good knowledge), no one can do that. There will be a page about such ranges when people will start a common project. Perhaps people are scared about the potential size of such pages but I'm not sure they should, sub-pages are there to contain details. I don't know about you but I would be pleased to read an SP-made (and not some vague generalities) overview about the Ands or the Rockies. Given the amount of members in US, the rockies are widely within reach of hand.

Perhaps the Vosges should be considered since the mountains abut an important wine region.
