I spent the weekend at the Jamtalhütte, reachable in a long ski in from Galtür, Austria. Conditions were feasible but not that great. The area is quite skied out with little new snow. Heavy winds on Saturday kept some heavily traveled slopes completely frozen, so very awkward, especially on light (Dynafit) gear. The wind also created breakable crust conditions across vast areas. Sunday, the weather deteriorated markedly, as bad weather from Italy broke down the föhn and made it over the crest. A tour had to be aborted because of high wind and blowing snow.
