Easy accessible 3000 + mountain in the Alps

Hi all!

It's been a long time since I've posted here :)

Anyway, I'm looking for 3000+ mountains in the Alps (west, east, doesn't matter much) that can be climbed in a non technical fashion: ie no glaciers, no rockclimbing, just a hike/scramble up to the summit.

Example: The Vieux Chaillol near Gap, or the Kreuzspitze in Tirol.

Thanks !

How about the Texel Group? Starting from the Pfelderer Valley, you can hike and scramble up lots of interesting summits, several of which are over 3000m:

    Lazinser Rötelspitze (3037m)

And a bit further west, best ascended from the Lodner Hütte:

    Roteck (3337m)
    Texelspitze (3318m)

There will be a bit of scrambling involved, but nothing beyond UIAA I.

Have fun, Rob

Plenty of 3000'ers around where I now live. Take a look at Cyrill's excellent list of the 44 3000'ers of Ticino. Summited Pizzo Cramorino last week, and am looking at completing the list in Malvaglia soon (Baratin, Vogelberg, ...) Let me know what you are looking for. I've got a house in Lugano, with room for guests.

here, in this valley , you can climb 7 summits 3000+ forgetting at home the rope and the crampons.
A further advantage is that once in Montespluga (cheap), Stuetta (cheap) or Madesimo (expensive) you don't need to use a car

I was thinking of hitchhiking through the Alps, doing interesting 'hike-able' peaks where I go.

Most likely I'll single out 3 or 4 areas, stay 4 or 5 days and then move on.

There are many, many easy 3000meter peaks in the alps.

If you would like a good overview: the book ''Leichte 3000er'' by Dieter Seibert describes 99 of these tours in the alps.

Some suggestions from me would be (for Tirol, Austria):

Furgler, Hexenkopf (Samnaun Group)
Wiesjaggelskopf, Hintere Karlesspitze (Kaunertal)
Hohe Geige, Sudlichter Pollsekogel, Kreuzspitze, Wildes Mannle (Otztal)
Hochfeiler, Hoher Riffler, Gefrorene Wandspitzen (Zillertal).

A Cracking Peak: Do Mont Buet at 3096 m lot's of parties use it as an acclimatisation peak in the Chamonix area.
A lovely walk from Le buet village (Free parking for car or train from Cham) you could then spend a night at the Refuge de la Pierre a Berard if you wanted to do the peak in two days..we skipped the hut and did it in one push but had some very welcome refreshments at it on the way down! Wonderful peak reccommended. :D

Another excellent peak 'La Tournette' majestic overlooking Annecy
Location: Haute-Savoie, France, Europe
Nice Limestone peak a few different huts can be used depending on route of ascent, chains to aid final scramble to the summit. Fantastic views from this Summit Not a 3000m summit but a full days hike up and down if you decide not to use a hut. Brilliant area. :D

Grand and Petit Flambeau in Mont Blanc Massif from the Italian side are well accesible because of Pointe Helbronner cablecar. There are easy and very short glacier stretches before both anyway: http://www.summitpost.org/petit-flambea ... 7/c-666808

You can also try the "Haute cime" of the "Dents du Midi" group (3257m, not far from Lausanne). If you start from Val d'Illiez, that's a non technical but quite long hike (+2100m of elevation gain).
