What's a decent hotel that is not too far from the train station in Zermatt and has quick access to the Klein Matterhorn cable car? Won't have much time but thinking about taking the cable car and doing the quick hike to the summit of Breithorn; looks like a straightforward snow climb.

There is a fantastic youth hostel, which looks and feels like an hotel (unfortunately also on the wallet).
It is at walking distance from the cable car, but I do not remember the name of it, I am sure you can find it on Google.
If you take the cable car up to the Plateau Rosa the Breithorn is a couple of hours walk, round trip....

Perfect! Thanks!! I assume it's best to rope up for crevasses? I got some mixed answers to that question.

I agree on the hostel...probably the best I've ever stayed in. EVERYTHING in Zermatt is walking distance from the train station and the cable car. Probably don't need a rope on the Breithorn. There's a boot track highway to the summit and few crevasses. It is a glacier though. If you have time, I highly recommend the Half Traverse of the Breithorn. It takes about 6 hr round trip from the cable car.
