The Hindelanger is defenitly not a real klettersteig, there are no cables for a long time if you start from the right direction (zugspitze).
The first cable/steps are to be seen at the Völkarspitze and thats more or less 3/4 of the route
Every year lots of people underestimate this trip and have to be airlifted from the ridge.
In winter this is a serious alpine undertaking which will take you two days,(overnight stay in the new bivyhut) very special but make sure you are well prepared because routefinding will be difficult in the snow.

Got that mixed up with Jubiläumsgrat, I think. Hindelanger Klettersteig is between Nebelhorn and Großer Daumen (plus all the way down to Hindelang if you want to go the long way). And yes, it is a Klettersteig, complete with cables and ladders. Also some scary unprotected bits, though.

You're right, my mistake.
Sometimes you read what you want to read.

I spent a winter in Bavaria once long ago. I think a base in Oberammergau would be a good start.

You bring the skis.
I'll bring the tortellini.
