Last year I was lucky enough to visit one of the most beautiful places in Scotland,,,the Isle of Skye for a week in June. I was travelling alone and this is an account of what was for me a magical week. Here's the link to the page on my blog. I hope you enjoy.........http://howlingmist.blogspot.ie/2012/07/ ... -2012.html

Planning is half the fun. Getting to Skye usig public transport is pretty easy but takes time. The Scottish Mountaineering Club do several good guide books and there are several guides based on Skye. If you are heading to that neck of the woods feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer any questions you have. Scotland has an open access policy so it is easy to camp etc.

Lots to do. One of the best is a little un Sgurr na Stri. Less than 500mtrs but the view from the top is superb. It has 300mtrs + of excellent scrambling as well. :P

A week would be fine for Skye but why not explore some more of the Highlands. Assynt or Knoydart for example. Or cross the water to Ireland. The west coast is great.

I spent over a week in the Orkneys a few years ago. Treeless like this but loads of standing stones. That ridge traverse looks excellent. Well done!

Completed the full ridge traverse solo in 10:30 hours last Friday (15:40 including approach and descent)

got lucky with the weather and a day off and went for it!

some photos and a write up here, didnt take many during the middle and end sections ad it was too bright then misty and i was getting a bit tired!
