Has anybody been in the area recently? Wondering whether snowshoes are needed for the hike we plan on Saturday. I presume we would not need crampons/ice axes for the hike up the east side.
How is the trail to Chasm Lake looking currently? I understand there is not enough snow on the of south side of MLW to be concerned about avalanch danger.
I will really appreciate any comments. I have never been in the area.

Not just Lady Washington, does anybody have information about conditions in RMNP and IPW in general? I know Longs is back to technical. Do most things over (say) 12,000 need snowshoes?

Very windy on the top, otherwise perfect conditions on Mount Lady Washington on Saturday. Packed snow from the trailhead, icy in places. Less snow above tree line and only patches of snow on the east slope of MLW. Really glad we did not carry snowshoes.
Sorry Dude..., we have not seen Martha Col, did not go to Chasm Lake.
The register on MLW is in poor condition. The tube is intact, while the notebook is falling apart. I would suggest bringing a new one if you are heading that way.

Packed snow all the way on trail to Black Lake from Bear Lake TH. Very slipery in places. No snowshoes necessary.

As it goes without saying we had a blast. It was my first time in Colorado and I will be back for more. That north face route on Longs looked so interesting!

Thanks, Vlad. Should I expect packed snow on all trails in RMNP right now?

I just checked the RMNP webcams and Longs Group looks like very little snow while Hallett-Taylor-Owens looks "mixed." FWIW, I'm planning to climb something in the eastern half of the Mummies.

Not sure about other places in RMNP. Here is how it looked on MLW on Nov 7.

The big diagonal couloir is Lambs Slide. The big horizontal ledge is Broadway. Toward the top, Flying Dutchman merges into Lambs Slide from the left. About half way between the base of Lambs Slide and Broadway, the thin vertical line is Alexander's Chimney. All these are popular routes. Lambs Slide is close to 45 degrees and is prime avalanche terrain when conditions are "right," but is otherwise a good way to get to Broadway for Kieners or Notch Couloir on the East Face, or to the Loft.

Looks like gaiters not snowshoes up there right now. But we'll see what the storm brings.
