Anyone up for Dragon's Tail this weekend (Saturday)? Also, any information on current conditions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the heads-up; I was afraid of that. I'm planning snowshoeing Breck as a consolation.

Dragonstail was very fun this morning. The apron is a bit punchy with the snow from the last storm not fully consolidated and lots of wet slide debris all over it but it was solid enough early this morning. I dug a quick pit to make sure there wasn't any really wet stuff buried or pooling water. I wouldn't want to be on the apron right now when it warmed up. After you go over/thru the big rocks into the main part of the couloir there is sweet easy ice and alpine ice for long stretches. We finished on the left branch and found really nice conditions from the start of the iced over rocks to the top. The right branch is threatened by a huge cornice from what I can see. I wasn't about to hang out underneath that section longer than necessary.

We topped out by 8am and the snow stayed in great shape with some help from the wind and clouds despite a lighter freeze last night. Car to car was just over 4 hours including taking a couple short detours on the way up and down. Hope that helps some other climbers.

Looking to climb something this weekend and Dragon's Tail came to mind. Still new to CO. Any idea what kind of shape it's in?

Thanks!

It's in good shape. With proper weather conditions (aka freeze/clear night) you'll have fun.
