Are there any good places to do any top rope climbing near Estes or is it all sport and trad? Heading up with the family in a few weeks and any information would help. Thanks

If you haven't done so, you should post this question on Mountain Project. It has much more of a Colorado focus.

You can rig some topropes around Mary's Lake. There's some stuff in the 5.4/5.5 range for beginners.

There's harder stuff available at Allenspark. The trouble is getting up to the crags on that gnarly road.

The top ropes at Mary's Lake are so so at best. There are a couple of TR-able routes on Twin Owls (lumpy ridge), but they are not "easy" to set up, much better to lead them.

Lots more TR stuff that's easy to get to in Boulder Canyon at Happy Hour Crag.

second the suggest to check mountainproject.com
