Maybe, but I won't commit to anything in winter this far out especially not knowing weather. I may be a last minute call.

Ski season was pretty much crap last year due to our lack of snow, which means if we get snow, I will ski. Not to be a fair weather hiker, its just that I love my blower powder days! (plus why drive through a snowstorm to go hiking when I can walk to a ski resort :P )

This is not fair! I have to put my ass on a plane just to see a mountain I think you can give up a walk to a ski hill for an SP gathering :)

+1

Mike, don't be a weenie. I know you love to hibernate on the ski hill all winter long, but surely you can sacrifice one little day to see your SP buds. :P Shoot, at the speed you hike, you can probably ski powder in the morning then meet us on the summit by lunch... :D

Unfortunately there aren't that many good powder days, I would feel like more of a weenie driving for 2 hours in a blizzard and missing out on fresh snow when its such a commodity where I live. It would be like driving 2 hours to go to McDonald's when the steakhouse next door is offering free steaks :D

You just have to make sure you schedule the SP winter gathering for a sunny day, then you know I will be there. 8)

Sounds like it depends on when and where for a lot of people. Can we narrow it down to a month and range?

I've always been interested, just never has worked out for me. When and where is usually my dilemma, but this year it can also be a matter of getting back into shape. I've been in a wheelchair due to gout the past 2 months and have been walking now for 2 weeks.
Don't count me in yet, but I'd love to go.

MountainHikerette & I might be interested depending on when & where. Also we’ll hope for a weather window! We’ve been to a bunch of 14ers.com gatherings but never a summitpost. If we want to keep it to a day hike there are several access points that could be considered - some that also offer a winter camping option.

OK, I was just trying to see how many people were interested. A whole lot apparently.

Some of my friends have suggested doing Columbia and Elbert this winter. Either would make fine winter gatherings. More to follow.

I'll go as long as it's not Columbia.
