Hope to get out to CO for the first time. Like many others I'm interested in bagging the 14ers. Can those of you with experience please recommend books, trail maps/topos....etc...

Also, I have Garmin 62 gps -- what maps are good for these mountains? I saw there is a Garmin TOPO set for CO 24k. Anyone recommend these?

Thanks for the help!!

The 14ers "bible" is a must. The descriptions are very good and many of the mountains you may not really need a map, while others is still a very a good idea.
For example, if your going to the Front Range or Tenmile-Mosquito ranges you don't need one, but the Elk or the San Juans it would be highly suggested.

Don't forget your Colorado Atlas & Gazetteer for driving directions, including Forest Service roads: http://shop.delorme.com/OA_HTML/DELibeC ... tion=10096

I ordered the bible yesterday and should be here by weeks end. Now I guess it's time to drop $80 on the Garmin CO topo maps.

The link MoapaPk provided above is for a free map download that you can put on your GPS, if you have a memory card slot on your GPS you can put all kinds of free maps on there, the GPS File Depot website is a good one for finding maps for most every state. These free maps are great!
