Well the San Gabs are ablaze once again. Looks like the Azusa Canyon area with smoke very visible from Downtown Los Angeles.

Here is a little more info for you that I copied and pasted from my work e-mail. This was issued a few hours before the Angelus Hwy Fire occured.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM WEDNESDAY TO 9 PM PDT
FRIDAY FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF LOS ANGELES...VENTURA...SANTA BARBARA...
AND SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTIES DUE TO LOW HUMIDITIES AND HOT TEMPERATURES...

...THE FLOW WILL BECOME WEAKLY OFFSHORE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY MORNING...

...PERIODS OF SINGLE DIGIT HUMIDITIES ALSO EXPECTED FOR VALLEYS
AND DESERTS WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...

...TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO EXCEED 100 DEGREES IN SOME INLAND LOCATIONS ON WEDNESDAY...WITH TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT BECOMING
MORE WIDESPREAD ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY DURING THE PEAK OF THE HEAT WAVE.
DURING THIS TIME...WARMEST INLAND LOCATIONS WILL LIKELY SOAR AS HIGH
AS 106 DEGREES.

THE COMBINATON OF LONG DURATION SINGLE DIGIT HUMIDITIES...HOT TEMPERATURES...AND CRITICALLY DRY FUELS HAS PROMPTED THE ISSUANCE OF THE RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA. HOT CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO PERSIST ON SATURDAY...WITH SOME COOLING BY SUNDAY.

Yeah, too bad that area is affected :(

On the other hand, the sunset on my bike ride last night was amazing!!

We hiked the Mt Wilson Trail last night (just to Manzanita Ridge). I didn't notice any hint of smoke in the air during the hike.

Second fire reported above La Canada along the Angeles Crest Highway. Smoke Plume is again visible from downtown L.A.

Looks like weekend activities are probably shot unless you stay to the east.

Noooo :( I really hope the forest in the higher hills isn't going up in flames!

Anyone know how the air is in the Baldy area? I was thinking about a quick jaunt up the skihut trail Saturday but that might not be the best plan.

Luciano,
The smoke seems to be pushing west from at least the La Canada fire. Just went outback to have a look. I'm not sure about the smoke from the Morris fire. It's looking gross here in the SFV. Hot and smokey. Hopefully by Saturday they'll have things knocked down and you won't have to worry.

This morning it looked like they had the La Canada fire out. It was clear and only a faint plume was rising from that area.

It looks like the Morris fire is under control or mostly done.

The other fire on the Angeles Crest is winding down.

Should be fine by the weekend unless we get a new one. You can watch these links to see smoke coverage:

Slightly off-topic, but there's a new fire on the E end of the Verdugos.
