Does anyone know if you can ascend the Southeast face route with a 50 M rope or is a 60 M required? Also, does anyone have any beta on tsunami (5.7 according to Secor)?

Thanks Pete. We're definitely going to bring two ropes, but we're hoping to get by with one 60M and a 50M. There are going to be 3 of us and we may choose to climb Tsunami instead of the NE or SE routes depending on conditions.

dougb, from the sounds of it you had one rope that was less than 60 M and it wasn't quite long enough. Any thoughts on how it would be going both up and down with TWO 50 M ropes? I'm also hoping that someone out there has info on the Tsunami route as well.

Matthew Holliman and I did it in May 2005. We carried a single 50m rope, and we survived :) But if I were to do it again I would bring a skinny 60m to make the rappels a little less sketch. The climbing is easy, but 5.0 or whatever is an old-school sandbag -- it's probably closer to 5.4 - 5.5.
