Hey gang, I'm planning to head to the desert for a change of scenery. I'm thinking of staying out for possibly a week. Besides Tin & Dry mountains, what other peaks in the immediate areas should I check out?

The Racetrack is a short distance from there. Ubehebe Peak has a fine view of it, too.

Well these aren't in the immediate vicinity and do involve a bit more dirt road driving, but wiht a week shouldn't be a problem.

If you drive all the way thru past Tea Kettle junction and up thru hidden valley to get to the 190 .. along the way is Hunter Mountain. It's a real easy hike with great views.

Or, if you head north from Ubehebe Crater to crankshaft junction and head west up into the Last Chance range, both Sandy Peak and Last Chance Mountain provide enjoyable hikes with excellent views

Another one I haven't done, but looks really nice is Corridor Canyon. This leaves the racetrack road a bit past tea kettle junction. There's an interesting loop I've been considering that would climb up warm and cameo points which overlook Saline Valley. Although I don't know how doable this is in conjunction with Corridor Canyon. I've never come across any TRs describing this? Anybody know?

EDIT: Tin Mt and Dry Mt probably both top in quality anything I mentioned though ;-)

Corridor Canyon is nice - some narrow areas, a couple dry falls, petroglyphs, and fossils as far as we went. We stopped here:

So, I don't know what happens as you go on past the track on the map.

Hi Kathy,

It's definitely where your track stops on the N end of Corridor Canyon that I was thinking would be a convenient way for that loop to go, as it would drop you out in the small valley to the north right near Warm and Cameo pts. But, it looks like the canyon might start to get interesting ;-)

Thanks for the info!
