To those in the know...

How far up the Whitney portal road can a truck drive this forthcoming weekend? Lazy climbers like a short approach ya know?

Also...

Skinning up the North Fork; is this feasible? Or am I confined to snowshoes?

Appreciate all beta. Thank you.

You'll probably have to park at the same place. The MR is probably skinnable from the first creek crossing all the way to Iceberg. Part of the road is probably skiable, too.

I just drove by Lone Pine an hour ago. This past weekend's storm dropped the snowline to about 5k.

Crappppp!

5k is quite a bummer. I appreciate the links, though they are somewhat late in terms of current data.

Im hoping that the warming trend towards the middle/end of the week pushes the snowline up a bit...

Thanks!

Hey thanks a bunch for the TR!

Looks like there will be some great conditions to climb in!

It's been hot down there in Lone Pine these past few days, I wonder if the remnants of last weekend's storm has already been plowed/melted away...

Its been warm and snowline is running up the hill daily. Skin up, it is way more fun on the way out and there is a lot of snow up around 8500-9000 in those parts making skinning ideal.
