One Climb in the High Sierra

I usually hate dealing with cameras and such, but with the convenience of little digital cameras, and a little prodding from my partners, who are sick of having no pics of THEM, I decided to document my recent climb in the High Sierra.

My buddy from WA came down for a little tour of my mountains. We had 9 days for our trip to the High Sierra, one of which was wasted with a hangover, and two were driving days. We warmed-up on Ghostrider, then did Dark Star, and finished on the DNB of Merriam Peak.

Short trip, but another lifetime of fun was had. I kinda feel sorry for the folks who don't live life the way climbers do, but then again, I am glad there are only a few of us out there. At Merriam, we were the only ones...

View at full screen and TURN up the volume... real loud...

thnx for the comments. it is a rough video, but my skills are nooB.

as for the music, i hate hiking with a passion and obnoxious punk rock is what helps me get through a hike. minor threat has been with me for a long time... all the way back when walkman and cassette box went into the pack too...

Sorry for the off-topic remark, but...

I will never understand why people are listening to music on their ipods or whatever while hiking/climbing...

no problem with the OT remark. anything goes on the internet.

did i say i really hate hiking? with a passion? kinda like cough syrup, eh? sometimes it is necessary. i am not afraid of hiking, just hate it, but its my transportation to the good stuff. and normally i don't climb with an ipod, makes communication difficult. soloing is a different story.

i love music. with a passion. it goes good with just about anything. and it especially makes the slogging much more tolerable...

first time on the dnb chief. you must have me confused with someone else. you did give me a topo of ruby wall a few years back when dustysdawg took be to your pad.

the wife and i did solo the east ridge in '98. we went up to do the dnb, but there was not a lot of info and my rack was a VERY light alpine rack. dnb of merriam needs a little more than that. i have also done feather pk, and have caught the biggest goldens alive out of the royce lakes, but this was my first time on the direct n buttress...
