Ok folks, I won't have you sift through the run-on dialog and blow-by-blow moments of the trip but keep it simple with captions attached to the photos. Bottom line, Pat Brennan showed me a crag where he put up a route with his wife Lori, a few years back. Deb and I wanted to do a backcountry FA of our own this year and this small little crag looked like the ideal fun casual weekend project. So, off we headed during the long Labor Day weekend....
Our objective: Golden Trout Crag. The route takes on the obvious buttress to the right.
The Misses headed to our "home away from home"
Miso soup....right out of the pan. Yum!
Who's ready for dessert?!
The legendary Golden Trout Crag Zombie. "Give me all your fish heads!!"
The D&D Team....off to the crag!
Scoping the granite goodness above.
Starting up the first pitch (5.8R)
Half way up Pitch #1. The groove below offered only one placement.....a blue/green offset Alien. The rest was flaring.
Wifey on some runout slab. Lovely foliage along the way.
Enjoying the amazing fingerlocks on Pitch #2
Deb finishing up the last section of P2
More granite goodness! Headed up Pitch #3.
My lot in life....carrying two packs. Preparing to make the moves up to a steep rail with the only pro at your feet. Balancy and exposed....nice job, Rockcritter!
Here we go.....
Good stuff......can I have a third pack?!? Top of P3
Casting off on Pitch #4 (5.7)
Peek-a-boo!
Continuing upward on Pitch #5 (5.6)
On top of GTC
"Fish Stick Buttress" (5.8R, 5 pitches), Golden Trout Crag (FA, Deb Castro and Dave Daly, Sept 4 2010)
THE END
