Going back to climb banner form Ediza lake side this time. I was wondering if anyone is aware of shower facilities in Mammoth Lakes; i.e. similar to the $5 shower in Lone Pine Hostel.

Also, are there any hostels in mammoth lakes?

Save your money. There are free showers at Reds Meadow campground. Powered by hot springs. Best shower I have ever had.

But I think there is an optional donation box.

Yeah, the showers/tubs at Reds Meadow are nice, as I remember from long ago. My son and I recently tried to take a tub there after hiking, but, line was a bit long, so we bailed.

There is a hostel in Mammoth, though I don't know the name. I did a little research on same subject awhile back. Do a little googling and you'll find it. Sounded alright.
San Juaquin River, or any of the swimmable lakes, are good for getting clean. No suds, though.

climber.org maintains a list of showers near Sierra Nevada trailheads. Looks pretty up-to-date.

Hot springs at Red's Meadow are permanently closed by the Mono Co Health Dept.

I wonder why Mono County health department went over there in the first place, as Reds Meadow is in Madera County. I must say that even when I used to spend lots of time at hot springs, those springs were too skanky for my taste.

Nice! Glad you had fun, and sorry I missed out on it. You really should consider joining for at least a few days on the Challenge. That would be fun on the same order, I imagine.

TOPO does underestimate distances, but not usually by that much:

Yea, what gives, Sihler invited you.

We intend to attend the Challenge for a couple of days. We are too pussy to do big day after big day.

We got the distance by adding up the waypoint miles on our map. Pulled it out around Shadow Lake, and had a collective "Oh, shit!" moment.

This is what you missed out on. Nothing like some girl on girl minaret action during Ramadan:

What's harder? Getting to 2nd base with Daria, or escaping the moderation queue purgatory, lol?

Clearly, there is something more interesting happening on the other minaret.
