So I heard that the permit system has been changed a little bit for this season on Whitney.

I am not sure what it entails so what do I need to do it get a permit for the east face?

Is it the lottery or no? And what about the overnight at iceberg?

Day trips for the north fork are part of the same lottery and quota as the main trail. Overnight trips on the north fork are not part of the lottery. You still need a permit, but the procedure is the same as most other east side trailheads.
