The gate is still closed at Aspendell on 168. Clear dry road beyond it, though.

Any news on the eastside roads? Specifically, are the roads to Sabrina, North Lake, and South Lake open? Thanks.

edit: saw this on the Inyo NF website, as of 4/25:
Roads The Rock Creek road is plowed to the pack station - heavy snow beyond that point. The road to Sabrina Lake is being plowed by Inyo County - "should" be open for fishing opener. North Lake road is closed due to snow. The road to South Lake is closed at Parchers Lodge, the road into the Big Pine Canyon is open all the way to the trailheads and the road into the Bristlecone Pine Forest is closed at Sierra View outlook point, which is approximatley 2 miles down from the Schulman Grove.

I posted this an hour ago on the TP thread....

Just got off the phone with the LV Cal Trans dudes.

Lee Vining CAL TRANS road clearing crew ran into a major 30-40' high SNOW & ROCKSLIDE (over 1/3 of a mile in length) yesterday afternoon just above the Ellery Dam on 120. They now have to keep the lower gate closed and the eastside of 120 off limits until they clear that rockslide which may now take a week or longer to clear.

BTW: The McGee Creek Rd. is clear all the way up to the T/H PL.

Hey Rick,

Not sure where your info is coming from, but I am coaching little league with one of the Mono County guys working up there, and they were at TPR on Friday May 6, and they expect to be at the east Park entrance by Wednesday May 11. They will then continue to just prior to the avy zones at Olmsted. The report was 12-14' deep at TPR. It's going to open late, but hopefully not too late...

Info from Cal-Trans buddy down here at the Crowley Station. He indicated on Friday that their was still some substantial rock debris along the northern Ellery Lake section.

But good news to hear.

Ask him why the lower gate isn't opened as they usually do even if they are still plowing up high. Most years they will allow fisherman to drive up to Ellery and then onto Tioga even though the East TM Park Gate Entrance is closed. They usually put out cones and a turn around sign at the Tioga Lake restroom P/L.

They didn't make it to the Park entrance today, about 500 yards short. Will be there tomorrow for sure barring any equipment issues.
