Did a dayhike to Olancha Peak via Sage Flat Rd. No crampons or ice axe needed. Starting around 10,000' on the PCT there are snow drifts which make routefinding a little challenging as the boot paths aren't always going the right direction. The snow has a boot trail though it, just use caution if icy, but passable without gear. Overall a beautiful day, saw two PCT folk trekking along, they seemed to be in good spirits. The summit register is full if someone is heading that way soon.......enjoy the photos......

Real nice photos, the best I've seen from Olancha. Looks like a great day up there. I suggest you post a trip report or at least an album here on SP.

Thank you, it was my first time there and I would like to go back. Maybe backpack the area, seems like a peaceful stretch.

I went up there on Saturday (6/11) and the snow was even less of an issue. I added a new book for the register. Though I looked both coming and going (and during a previous failed attempt to 10,000') I was never ever to find the the bypass through Bear Trap Meadow- was it a trail or just a x-country route?
